Practical experience combined with Ingenious Design for Superior Results

Years of experience on the farm and in the field with machinery have given the Terrier team the ability to have successfully designed and manufactured both specialist and production equipment for OEM customers.

  • We start with the application or problem
  • We analyze the variable factors- understanding the differing soil composition, the operating conditions, factors like trash or stubble
  • We look at the required result- is it achievable and if so how- how will the soil respond, will the soil stick to any particular component, will it flow through the machine. Will it work efficiently?
  • We consult with the steel manufacturers, the driveline manufacturers, operators of existing machines-analysis of service life and serviceability, stress analysis, torque calculations, wear factors.

(Case Study on a machine from a reputable manufacturer showed the results of not following these steps.welding helmet 915457
The manufacturer rated the machine for use on a 250 horsepower tractor but in practice it did not perform.
One look at the driveline told us the 250 hp rating was not possible.
Running the design through the driveline calculator confirmed a maximum of 160 hp with any expectation of normal service life.
Many basic errors in design produced a machine not able to perform to expectation.)

  • We design for ease of manufacture, efficient use of material, different materials, right down to ease of transport from the manufacturer to the farm
  • We put the product in the field- Field trials put the theory into practice.
  • We see if it works as designed. Is it easily serviced? Is a wear part easy to change? Are there any unforeseen issues? How do the operators rate it?
  • We always strive for improvement- what technology, ingenuity, fresh approach can make it better?
